Our Assessment Process
The first stage of our assessment is an initial consultation with one of our experienced clinicians, who will discuss with you your current and historical concerns, strengths, difficulties and difference. As part of this consultation, we ask you to complete screening questionnaires, to help us decide whether a full assessment is appropriate with our service. The full assessment includes;
- Further session(s) with your Lead Clinician to gather more information on neurodivergent features present and to go through a detailed developmental history, if possible.
- Interactive session with a second clinical member of the team to assess and observe neurodivergent features using the ADOS-2 standardised assessment tool combining conversation and interactive activities.
- Interview session with a third clinician to complete a diagnostic interview about features of ADHD present (if appropriate).
- QB Check for all ADHD and Combined assessments.
- Sensory processing and speech and language screening assessments (optional extra for adults).
For child assessments, we will also speak with the school to gather more information and can conduct an in-school observation if necessary (always included in ADHD-only assessments). Similarly with adult assessments, it may help to speak with your employer, with your consent only. For both children and adults, we can also review any relevant reports completed by other professionals.
Following these assessment sessions, our multidisciplinary team will meet for a diagnostic discussion where individual strengths and difficulties are identified, as well as determining whether an autism and/or ADHD diagnosis is suitable and beneficial. This is followed by a feedback session with your Lead Clinician, where the outcome of the assessment is discussed and our recommendations are given, alongside information about relevant services, organisations and literature.

Post-diagnostic support
Follow-up sessions with one of our clinicians after having received a diagnosis from our service (within the last 6 months).
Moving on from a diagnosis can seem daunting. We can offer a space to begin the process of understanding and adjusting to the new information about your/your child’s new identity and in establishing what you/they need. For children, we can help you reflect on the support you already give your child and how else you might be able to help them, as well as helping your child understand what the new identity means for them. There may also be specific issues you would like support with such as sleep, communication and behaviour.
Finally, we can also help with developing an ‘Autism profile’ for children and adults; this helps to describe individual areas of strength and areas of challenge. This can be used as a way of disclosing an Autism diagnosis and to support requests for reasonable adjustments in education or work settings.
These would be time limited pieces of work and offered in session blocks at £95/session.
